The Wolf and The Dog Leather Co.
My journey into leatherwork started with a simple search for gear that wouldn't fail. Even as a kid, I gravitated toward products that felt sturdy—never sloppy or bulky, but well-built with a tangible sense of quality. I first discovered the craft through a scout camp merit badge (shout-out to Troop 323!), but it wasn't until much later that I realized I wanted to build things that would last forever.
Based in San Diego, I spend my days (and many late nights) at the workbench, obsessing over the details that most people never see. Whether it’s choosing the right weight of full-grain leather or spending an extra hour "glassing" an edge until it shines like marble, I believe that if a thing is worth making, it’s worth making to last a lifetime. For me, this is more than just a business; it’s an artistic outlet and a stress release that keeps the "American Spirit" alive.
My goal is to build products that encapsulate the grit and honor of the American West. I’m inspired by the hardworking farmers I grew up around and the courageous, disciplined spirit of the iconic cowboys. When I sit at my bench, I’m working to keep that heritage of freedom and opportunity in every stitch.
When I’m not at the bench, you’ll likely find me exploring the very environments I build my gear for—from the local urban jungle to the high deserts, mountains, and country trails of the West. Every piece I ship out is a reflection of that adventurous spirit and a commitment to honest, American craftsmanship.
My Goal: To make the last wallet, card case, or gear accessory you'll ever need to buy.
Favorite Tool: My cocobolo burnishing stick and my two hand-stitching needles.
Daily Carry: A well-patinaed bifold that’s seen more miles than my boots.
Proudly Crafted in the USA.
Behind the Name
Two Paths, One Purpose: Leather Gear Forged for the Journey.
The Story
In the quiet hours of a San Diego workshop, between the scent of premium full grain leather and the rhythmic pull of a saddle-stitch, The Wolf and The Dog Leather Co. was born.
Our name represents the duality within every traveler: The Wolf—the restless spirit that craves the wild, the unknown trail, and the grit of the journey—and The Dog—the loyal companion, the dependable partner, and the comfort of returning home.
We believe your gear should be as resilient as the wolf and as faithful as the dog. In an age of "disposable" goods and machine-pressed seams, we choose the hard way. We hand-cut every hide, hand-burnish every edge to a glassy finish, and hand-stitch every seam using the traditional saddle-stitch.
Why? Because a machine "lock-stitch" is designed for speed, but a "saddle-stitch" is designed for survival. If one thread breaks on a mass-produced wallet, the whole thing unzips. If a thread breaks on ours, the rest of the seam stays locked.
We don’t just make accessories; we build heirlooms. Whether you’re navigating the urban jungle, trekking through the high desert, or exploring the mountains and country, our leather is crafted to age with you, developing a patina that tells the story of where you’ve been and how far you’ve come.
Built in San Diego. Forged for the Journey. Guaranteed for Life.
