Our Promise & Your Returns

At The Wolf and The Dog Leather Co., every piece of leather is a testament to honest craftsmanship and enduring quality. We pour our skill and care into each stitch, aiming for a product that not only stands the test of time but also truly satisfies you. While we don't rush the process in crafting your item, please review our policy below regarding returns.

Standard Item Policy

I want you to be happy with the piece you receive. Standard, non-customized items may be returned within 30 days of delivery for a full refund of the purchase price.

Every piece I sell goes to its first owner. Once an item has been sent to a customer and returned to me, I do not resell it. When your piece arrives, you're the first person to call it yours—and the first person to begin putting your own wear, character, and history into the leather.

To initiate a return, you must contact me within 30 days of delivery before shipping the item back. Please do not send a return without contacting me first. I'll provide the return instructions and return address.

For standard returns, the customer is responsible for return shipping costs.

If there is a manufacturing defect or a problem with your order that was my responsibility, that's on me. I'll take care of the issue, including any necessary shipping costs, and make it right.

Refunds will be issued after the returned item has been received.

Important: Non-Returnable Items

Because they are made specifically for you, custom-made and personalized items are final sale and are not eligible for return or exchange.

If there is a manufacturing defect, damage during delivery, or a problem with a custom or personalized order that was my responsibility, please contact me. I'll make it right.

Please keep in mind that full-grain leather naturally varies from hide to hide and even across different areas of the same hide. Variations in grain, color, texture, and natural markings are part of the material and are not considered defects.

Damaged or Defective Items

If your item arrives damaged or you believe it has a manufacturing defect, please contact me within 30 days of delivery and include clear photos of the issue when applicable.

I'll work with you to determine the appropriate solution, which may include repair, replacement, or a full refund.

If the problem is the result of shipping damage, a manufacturing defect, or a mistake on my part, I'll cover any necessary shipping costs and make it right.

How to Initiate a Return

You must contact me before sending any item back. To initiate a return, email contact@thewolfandthedogleatherco.com within 30 days of delivery and include:

Your order number

The item you wish to return

A brief reason for the return

Photos, when applicable

I'll provide the return instructions and return address. Please do not ship an item back before receiving return instructions.

Return Shipping

For standard 30-day returns, where there is no defect, the customer is responsible for return shipping costs.

If the return is necessary because of shipping damage, a manufacturing defect, or a mistake on my part, I'll cover the necessary return shipping costs.

For customer-paid returns, I recommend using a trackable shipping service. I cannot be responsible for packages lost or damaged during return transit.

Refund Process

For eligible standard returns, the full purchase price of the returned item will be refunded to the original payment method after the returned item has been received.

Any optional paid expedited shipping or shipping upgrade purchased with the original order is non-refundable on a standard return.

If the return involves shipping damage, a manufacturing defect, or a mistake on my part, I'll take care of the issue and any shipping costs for which I'm responsible.

Lifetime Stitching Warranty

The first 50 pieces sold by The Wolf and The Dog Leather Co. are backed by the Lifetime Stitching Warranty.

I introduced this warranty when The Wolf and The Dog Leather Co. began as a way of standing behind the stitching on my earliest work. Once the first 50 pieces have been sold, the Lifetime Stitching Warranty will be retired for future purchases. Any piece sold with the warranty will remain covered for the original owner and immediate family members to whom the piece is passed down.

Our Promise

If the thread on a covered piece from The Wolf and The Dog Leather Co. ever snaps, unravels, or otherwise fails through normal use, I will restitch the affected area free of charge.

The Saddle-Stitch Advantage

The Wolf and The Dog Leather Co. goods are hand-stitched using the traditional two-needle saddle stitch with a single length of thread.

With a saddle stitch, two needles on opposite ends of the same thread pass through each stitching hole from opposing sides. If the thread is damaged in one area, this construction helps keep the surrounding stitches intact, helping to prevent the stitch line from unraveling.

The Repair Process

1. The Report: Send a photo of the failure to contact@thewolfandthedogleatherco.com.

2. The Assessment: I'll review the damage and confirm that it's a stitching issue covered by the warranty.

3. The Restoration: Once approved, ship the item back to the workshop. I'll restitch the affected seam and get it back in your hands.

What's Covered

Blown Seams: Thread failure from heavy, honest use, including the main frame and internal construction or pockets.

Stress Points: Stitching failure at critical stress points or hardware attachments.

Thread Failure: Stitching that has unraveled due to a break in the thread.

Maintenance vs. Failure

Over time, you may notice minor cosmetic fuzz or pilling on the thread. Minor fraying that does not affect the integrity of the seam is considered normal wear.

If you're ever unsure whether what you're seeing is normal wear or a genuine stitching issue, send me a photo and I'll take a look.

The Limits of the Trail

The Lifetime Stitching Warranty does not cover:

Leather Wear: Natural scuffs, scratches, patina, or other changes to the leather through normal use.

Neglect & Improper Care: Damage caused by prolonged moisture exposure, mold, harsh chemicals, improper cleaning, or other improper care.

Hard Abuse: Cuts, burns, intentional destruction, or other damage outside normal use.

Outside Work: Damage resulting from repairs or alterations performed by anyone other than The Wolf and The Dog Leather Co.

Shipping: The owner is responsible for shipping the piece to the workshop. The Wolf and The Dog Leather Co. covers the labor of the stitching repair and return shipping.

Forged for the Journey.

The Boneyard

The Boneyard is home to handcrafted leather goods that represent earlier chapters in my journey as a leather craftsman.

Every piece was made using the very best materials, techniques, and knowledge I had at the time it was created. As I've continued to learn, refine my process, and grow as a craftsman, these pieces no longer represent the benchmark I hold myself to today.

These are still premium, handcrafted leather goods built with care and designed for dependable everyday use. They simply don't incorporate some of the refinements I've developed over time—whether that's improved edge-finishing techniques, updated construction methods, or other advancements gained through experience.

Rather than letting these pieces sit on a shelf, I'd much rather see them carried, used, and appreciated by someone who values quality craftsmanship.

For that reason, every item in The Boneyard is offered at a price that I believe honestly reflects where it fits in the evolution of my craft.

My goal has always been simple: to build leather goods that are as durable as they are beautiful while continually striving to improve with every piece I make.

The Boneyard is part of that journey. Every piece teaches me something, and every lesson helps me build a better product tomorrow.

Customization

CUSTOMIZATION OPTIONS

Make it yours. In our workshop, we offer several ways to personalize your gear to match your journey.

1. The Thread (The Lifeline)

We use heavy-duty waxed poly-thread, hand-saddle stitched for exceptional durability. Because we maintain a wide variety of colors in the shop, we can match almost any aesthetic you're looking for.

  • Choose Your Color: From traditional earth tones to vibrant pops of color, the choice is yours.

  • How to Select: Navigate to the “contact” section and message us to discuss the specific color you have in mind for your build, and I will confirm availability.

2. The Edge Paint (Multi-Layer Edge Finish for Chrome Tan Leather)

We utilize different finishing techniques depending on the type of leather to provide an appropriate finish for the leather. Our standard approach is to burnish our Vegetable Tan (Veg Tan) leather and edge paint our Chrome Tan leather. While we can edge paint Veg Tan upon request, we highly recommend this bonded paint process for our Chrome Tan pieces and traditional burnishing for Veg Tan.

  • Our Process: For Chrome Tan hides like Crazy Horse, we use a specialized multi-stage finishing process. We start by carefully stripping the surface oils from the edge to promote strong adhesion. We then apply a technical basecoat to seal the fibers and provide a smooth foundation before finishing with multiple layers of professional-grade edge paint. This creates a clean, refined look that is built to withstand the friction of daily carry.

  • Choose Your Color: We maintain a diverse palette of colors to complement or contrast your leather choice.

  • How to Select: Navigate to the “contact” section and message us to discuss the specific color you have in mind for your build, and I will confirm availability.

3. Stamping Options

The Wolf and The Dog Leather Co. maker's mark is standard on most pieces. Stamping options vary depending on the product, leather, and available stamping area.

Maker's Mark: The standard Wolf and The Dog Leather Co. mark.

Themed Stamps: Some products include themed stamps as part of their design. Additional or alternate themed stamps may be available by request.

Clean (No Stamp): An unbranded option may be available on select pieces.

How to Select: If you have something specific in mind, please reach out and I'll let you know what options are available for your piece.

4. The Corner Profile

The silhouette of your gear changes the way it feels in your hand and sits in your pocket. We offer two distinct corner styles:

  • Slightly Rounded: A sharper, more architectural look. These corners provide a modern, "crisp" aesthetic while removing the harsh points that typically dig into pockets.

  • Rounded: This style offers an ergonomic feel, creating a seamless flow that minimizes pocket snag and provides a comfortable silhouette.

  • How to Select: Like our colors, simply message me with your preference.

(Note: Every corner is hand-sanded and finished using our technical edge-painting or burnishing process to ensure a smooth transition.)

5. Edge Creasing

Edge creasing is a traditional technique where a heated tool is used to compress a decorative line along the edge of the leather pockets.

  • Creased Edges: Adds a refined, "finished" look to the pockets. It creates a subtle border that catches the light and gives the piece an elevated, traditional aesthetic.

  • No Creasing: A clean, modern, and minimalist look. This allows the natural character of the leather and the hand-stitching to be the sole focus without additional ornamentation.

  • How to Select: Message me your preference. If no preference is stated, we will default to what is pictured on the listing.

Personalization & Hot Foil Stamping

Personalization is now available on select pieces:

Personalized Stamping: Custom initials, names, or significant dates (letters and numbers) stamped directly into the leather.

Hot Foil Stamping: Gold and silver foil applied to your choice of custom letters or numbers for a distinctive personalized finish.

Available personalization options may vary by product, leather, and available stamping area. If you're interested in personalizing a piece, please reach out and let me know what you're looking for. I'll provide all available options for your piece.
